Round Top Mountain Trail is a very enjoyable and relatively easy hike. It's about a 4 mile hike just outside of Jasper, Arkansas with cool bluffs along the way and a great view of the Ozarks at the top.
Me and Bumble went with a group of friends and saw only one other group the entire time. It took us 2 1/2 hours with a long break at the top to enjoy the view. We also took both trails at the top. It could easily be done in under 2 hours.
At the beginning, the trail is fairly steep with a couple switch backs but the trail is still easy enough to follow. It levels out quickly with only a couple steep spots after to reach the top. The trail is overgrown in a couple places, so I recommend wearing long pants and bug spray.
With many flowers, mushrooms, cool rocks and bluffs along the way, there is a lot to stop and look at, including some remnants of a bomber plane that crashed in the 1940's. The North trail has an awesome view while it's hard to see past the trees on the West Trail.
Bumble loved this trail and enjoyed smelling the flowers and climbing on rocks. While she enjoyed this hike, she would only give it a 4 star. She loves playing in the creeks and streams on our hikes and this trail didn't have any water. Bumble Bee had a great time and was worn out by the time we got back to the car.
I will definitely be going back to the trail in the fall. I imagine the view will be magnificent with the leaves changing.
